What is Yakult?
Yakult is very similar in taste to a yoghurt drink. But it has more health benefits as it has the probiotics that helps digestion and immunity.
According to Yakult.co.in
So a healthy digestive system is the key to good health and longevity. Yakult is a delicious probiotic fermented milk drink that contains Yakult’s exclusive probiotic Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota (LcS). Daily consumption of Yakult helps improve digestion and helps build immunity.
Yakult.co.in
I drink Yakult everyday to help with my gastritis or acid reflux. Instead of taking medications for my condition, a doctor friend recommended to just gulp down Yakult.
And so I have tons of Yakult bottles and was hesitant to just throw them all away. I researched on how to reuse Yakult bottles that can be made as a fun kid’s activity. And this project is the very first one we did!
Halloween Ghosts Yakult Bottle Craft
Making this Halloween kids’ craft is a perfect way to recycle empty plastic Yakult bottles. You can create this to decorate and make your house spooky for this season. Halloween won’t be complete without ghosts! Let’s make them cute and crafty ghosts!
DIY Yakult Bottle Ghost Materials
To make this craft from Yakult bottles, you will need the following materials:
- Yakult bottles
- White paint
- Black markers
- Cotton balls
- White board paper
- Googely eyes
- Glue
- Paint brush
OTHER MATERIALS:
- Water for paint brush
- Apron or old play clothes
- Plastic tablecloth, shower curtain or old newspaper (optional)
- Blowdryer (optional)
Halloween Ghost Procedure
STEP 1: Preparation
Put a plastic tablecloth, shower curtain or old newspapers on your work surface to protect it from paint.
Have the kids put on their craft apron to protect their clothes from paint. Or use old play clothes if you prefer.
Wash and dry clean your empty Yakult bottles.
STEP 2: Ghost Body
Paint the empty Yakult bottles in white paint. We used acrylic paint but you can use paint you have on hand. You may need to put on a few coats of paint over the bottle label to hide it.
Dip your paintbrush in water as needed.
If you want to speed up the drying process, use a blowdryer. (Best to let the adults do this part.)
STEP 3: Ghost Limbs
While waiting for the paint to dry, draw arms and hands on white board paper. Try to make it fit the small size of the Yakult bottle. Make sure you have 2 sets of arms and hands per bottle.
Cut out the drawn arms and hands.
STEP 4: Ghost Face
Draw on the scary faces of the ghosts on the Yakult bottle using black markers. Be as creative and imaginative as you can when drawing their faces! Kids will have fun drawing their own ghost faces!
STEP 5: Ghost Eyes
Prepare 2 googely eyes for each Yakult bottle ghost. Put glue on the back of the googely eyes and attach to the drawn eyes on the bottle.
Instant funny not so scary ghost face!
STEP 6: Ghost Arms
Put glue at the ends of the ghost arms. Attach 2 of them to the back of the Yakult bottle, 1 on each side. Fold the arms in the direction you want as needed.
STEP 7: Ghost Hair
Prepare the cotton balls. Pull them apart any which way you want the ghost hair to look like. Just make sure it is intact.
Put glue around the Yakult bottle rim. Attach the cotton ghost hair and leave to dry.
FINISHED!
Tadah! You now have your very own Halloween ghost Yakult bottle craft!
You can arrange them in a group as a table decor. Or put them in different parts of the house along with other spooky decor items.
Bonus Halloween Kids’ Activities
Aside from using these Yakult bottle craft as decoration, you can also make some games out of them.
SCAVENGER HUNT
Hide the Ghost Yakult bottles around the house. Have the kids find them as a scavenger hunt game. The one who finds the most ghosts wins!
TRICK OR TREAT
Put the Ghost Yakult bottles in different rooms of the house. Prepare some treats beside them. Have the kids go around the house as an indoor Trick or Treat and hunt down the Ghost Yakult bottles. Hide clues under each bottle and let the kids figure out where the next Trick or Treat room is. When they find them, they get the treats that go with them!
BOWLING
How about some Ghost bowling? If you want to use the Yakult bottle ghost craft for this activity, better not attach the arms on them.
Set up the bottles like bowling pins on the floor. Use a mini ball and bowl those ghosts over!
Yakult Bottle DIY Halloween Ghost Verdict: 4 Stars!
This is a fun kids activity that you can do this Halloween. You not only gave your kids a great craft to make, you also recycled empty plastic Yakult bottles.
Plus! You not only made decorations, you can also play games out of them.
We only gave it 4 Stars as the label on the bottle was pretty hard to cover up with the white paint. We had to use several coats to finally hide the red label. Maybe we should have used a different kind of paint.
Other than that, this Halloween Ghost craft is the best out of waste from Yakult bottles!
